The annual Run for the Schools road race is hosted by the Iowa City Road Races and MidWest One Bank to benefit the Iowa City Community School District Foundation and Regina Catholic Schools. The race is scheduled for Sunday October 18, 2009 with race activities on both Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers are needed to register participants, set up the race course, man water stations, work the finish line, direct traffic on the course and tear down the event. Registration and race packet pick up will be at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center in Iowa City from 9am to 5pm on Sat. October 17 and from 6:30am to 9am on Sunday Oct. 18. Race events begin at 8am on Sunday Oct. 18 with the ½ mile and 1 mile Fun Runs and the 5K, 10K and half marathon begin at 9:00am. Event clean up will begin around noon on Sunday.
