Gamers for Humanity
Gamers For Humanity is dedicated to helping improve the world around us through:
-increasing the participation of gamers in charitable activities across the nation by providing opportunities for enjoyable and meaningful volunteer work.
-providing human services to people and communities in need.
-encouraging the enjoyment of life for people of all ages through the playing of games.
We work to accomplish these goals by organizing volunteer opportunities and opportunities for giving, and by collecting donated funds and items to be distributed to people in need.
Description:
Gamers For Humanity is dedicated to increasing the quality of life for the people in our communities, particularly through providing basic needs (food, shelter) and opportunities to enjoy the lives that we have (through games and similar enjoyable events).
We organize work trips to provide volunteers for organizations like Habitat For Humanity, rebuilding efforts in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, and Iowa.
We also collect games, toys, and other gifts for organizations like the Ronald McDonald House and similar family missions.
History:
Gamers For Humanity was formed in the Fall of 2007, with our first official function being a work trip to New Orleans in April of 2008. We were incorporated in the state of Iowa in the summer of 2008, and our 501(c)(3) is currently pending with the federal government. We have continued to provide volunteer work opportunities and charitable donation collection throughout our short history.
