2. Find a volunteer opportunity
Finding volunteer opportunities in your community is easy! There are several ways to get connected with local nonprofits:
- Attend one of the semester UI Volunteer Fairs: Dozens of organizations (most of which can verify your 10K hours) gather on campus to advertise their services to UI students, faculty, and staff. One room, thousands of possibilities.
- Go to the local volunteer center website: By clicking on the calendar, agencies, or opportunities tabs you can find information about date-specific volunteer events, local nonprofits, or ongoing opportunities. If no opportunities are readily listed, don't be afraid to look up the contact information for an organization you may want to volunteer with. It doesn't hurt to ask if they need any help. Get started today!
- Get connected with your 10K Squad Leader: Your 10K Squad Leader is your personal link to getting connected in the community. Your Squad Leader can recommend specific nonprofits and alert you to 10K vMeets, where we provide the transportation to and from a volunteer event. Current 10K vMeets will be listed in our "News and Events" section.
